Chris Myers RBA RI

myersChris Myers was born in London in 1949 and studied at Maidstone College of Art (now KIAD), graduating with an honours degree in 1972.
Since then he has followed a successful career as a painter and illustrator using watercolour as his primary medium.His first one-man show of watercolours was held in Falaise in Northern France in June 1994. He has a particular affinity with this country, especially the Normandy region, where he and his wife bought an old stone house in 1988. The region has subsequently been the subject of many paintings over the years.
Chris has travelled widely in Europe and the United States as well as Cuba, Australia and most recently Russia and Africa. His journeys provide inspiration and a good deal of subject material for his work. He is currently planning to visit Egypt later this year.
Chris has exhibited in many London shows over the years, with the RBA, the RI, and in the annual Sunday Times / Singer and Friedlander Watercolour Competition, as well as in the RWS Open Exhibition where he has won several prizes, (the 'Curwen / New Academy ', the 'Daler-Rowney' and 'The Artist' Prize on two occasions and the 'Sarah Samuels Award').
He has held several one-man shows as well as exhibiting with The Kent Painters Group, Goodwood Revival, the Gascoigne Gallery, Harrogate, the Greenstede Gallery, East Grinstead and the September Art Show in East Sussex.
His work has been featured in various magazines including 'Octane' and 'Classic and Sports Car' and most recently in 'The Artist' in July 2008.
Chris lives with his wife, Lynda and his three children in the village of Frant near Tunbridge Wells in Kent. He has his studio in the garden of his house where he works and sometimes exhibits. He regularly carries out private commissions.
Chris was elected a member of the Royal Society of British Artists in 2006.
