Born in Porlock, Somerset, England, in 1947. Educated in Surrey. Studied painting from 1965 to 1970 at Croydon & Newport Colleges of Art gaining a Fine Art degree in 1970. Lived in Dorset until 2002. Now lives in East Sussex.
Paints in watercolour, oil and acrylic. Subjects include seascapes and landscapes, some with buildings and people, as well as portraits and still life. The paintings are detailed and realistic.
Exhibited in England, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Canada and the United States of America. Member of the Royal Society of British Artists since 1980 and the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours since 1981. Founding Academician of the South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts. Member of the Aquafolio International Group. Public and private collections include: The North Carolina Museum of History, Duke University, The Central Carolina Bank, The Chelsea Arts Club, Lyme Regis Museum and HM The Sultan of Oman.
Elected as President of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours in 2014.
