Personal Statement
“I am often inspired by the specific beauty of an organic form be it a nasturtium picked form the allotment or a particularly handsome fig at the market. My way of expressing my response to these objects is through drawing and painting.
The considered setting up of a still life is a crucial part of the process. I focus on the objects themselves, how they relate to each other and the space in which they sit. When painting I pursue the development of the these relationship through constant looking, contemplating, redrawing and colour adjusting.”

Sarah Spackman's still-life paintings are based on observation, the study of a particular object, or group of objects, in a specific space. Strong drawing is the basis for a closer look at everyday objects that are often looked at but not seen.
